She’s Beautiful and So Am I

I was walking down the hall when I heard another woman exclaim loudly, “Look at her! She’s SO beautiful!!” She was holding her phone and scrolling through another woman’s social media page. It was so nice to see her appreciate and announce this woman’s beauty without comparison, envy or jealousy.

Part of Bloom includes getting to the root of bullying. We teach how to become curious and interested in why bullying occurs which makes room for empathy and compassion. Oftentimes, I have heard from others that female bullying is rooted in jealousy. I know several girls who got bullied because girls thought their boyfriend liked them. In other instances, girls began bullying because they felt threatened or intimidated or they wanted the attention.

This all reminded me that before we let ourselves sink to jealousy we can celebrate beauty in others without questioning our own. We can build each other up and not bring it back to us and our insecurities. We can be like the woman I heard saying “She is SO beautiful!”.

“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.”

You can admire someone else’s beauty without questioning your own. It can be “She’s beautiful and so am I”. We can celebrate each other and lift one another up. Always remember that you are beautiful, strong and resilient in your own way and you always have the ability to build someone up.
