Emotional Intelligence Leadership Course
Bloom Foundation has created an Emotional Intelligence Leadership Course for high school students. The program is one hour a week for 6 weeks, in addition to weekly one hour optional Q&A sessions. The total commitment for the program is between 6 to 10 hours total. At the end of the program, each student will have written their resume, developed their personal mission statement and completed a presentation on their story and vision. Here is a snapshot of the curriculum:
Week One • THE INTRO • 1 hour
Learn vulnerability and empathy and what to expect for the next 6 weeks and discuss the presentation at the end.
Homework: Watch Brene Brown Power of Vulnerability TedXTalk and answer questions and write down your story.
Week Two • YOUR BELIEFS • 1 hour
Identify your limiting beliefs and replace them with empowering truths and learn how to develop a growth mindset.
Homework: Write down limiting beliefs and empowering truths. Read part of Growth Mindset.
Week Three • YOUR VISION • 1 hour
Work on your personal mission and vision statement and learn about design thinking and problem solving.
Homework: Complete Girl Possible worksheets.
Week Four • YOUR STORY • 1 hour
Align your story with your vision and create your story of who you are and where you are going.
Homework: Make your resume.
Week Five • YOUR VOICE • 1 hour
Learn to speak with confidence and improve your communication and public speaking skills.
Homework: Watch “10 Ways to Have a Better Conversation” TedxTalk, read a part of the Talk Like Ted book and submit your presentation.
Week Six • YOUR PRESENTATION • 1 hour
Practice speaking and sharing your story in front of a group and receiving feedback and encouragement from others.
Homework: Upload your talk or share with a few friends or family members. Receive your certification of completion.
